The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution
A message from the President of the RMBI:
The RMBI has been providing high quality residential care for Freemasons, their widows and their dependants since 1850.
We now have 17 Homes accommodating over 1,000 residents throughout England and Wales. These Homes all provide residential care, some also provide nursing care and specialised care for people suffering from dementia.
The average age of our residents is currently 87, which can mean that some of our residents have complex care needs. Admission is on the basis of need, irrespective of ability to pay for the services required.
When a person makes their home with us, they do so safe in the knowledge that they will not have to move if their financial circumstances change. This is central to the RMBI’s ethos of ensuring the individual’s right to dignity, respect, choice and control over their own lives.
The total cost of supporting those unable to pay for the full cost of care is around £5million each year.
Why is legacy income so important to the RMBI?
Legacies are a vital source of income to the RMBI and fund around a fifth of its charitable activities, improving the lives of older and vulnerable people.
Larger legacies help us to fund vital improvements to our Homes and to replace them when necessary, enabling us to provide up-to-date quality accommodation.
Recognition in perpetuity will be given if the donor so wishes.
This is why I hope that you will consider leaving us a gift to enable our work to continue well into the future. Your generosity will be most appreciated by the RMBI and those in the care of the RMBI.
